Incorporating Air Lines Into a Eurovac Central System |
To make the system "user friendly" it is very important to have air
available at the vacuum inlets, so it is easy for the technicians to plug in
their vacuum hose and air hose at the same place – as outlined in this
section.
HANGING DROPS
Existing Shops
Eurovac has 50' x 3/8" flexible air lines available for hooking into
the existing hard pipe on the wall or the existing inlets on the wall,
with a quick disconnect. The air line is then run up the wall, and
across and down to the hanging drop. It is secured to the piping or
beams by tiewraps, provided by Eurovac. These air lines are available
with single outlets for single workstations or double outlets for
double workstations. The air lines come with 1/4" male threads on the
workstation end, and the other end is left bare so you can cut the
hose to length. A hose barb with a 3/8" male thread and hose clamp are
provided for this end. The air lines include a grounding wire to
convey any static electricity from the tool (which also includes a
grounding wire) and vacuum hoses. The grounding wire is usually
attached to the Eurovac piping or to the beams. The above method is
inexpensive and functional, but lacks the "professional" quality of
the method recommended for new shops (as outlined below).
The hard pipe for the air system should be run overhead, parallel with the
piping of the vacuum system. Tee's should be installed into the main air
line piping (as shown in the diagram). A ball valve should be installed
for shut-off purposes, with a hose barb to match the diameter of the
flexible air line (3/8" or 1/2"). It is preferable that Eurovac provide
the drops so we can ground the vacuum hoses via the air line drops. New
shops can eliminate filters/regulators by designing a balanced air line
system that slopes to a trap or traps ... with the drops elevated. Most
sanding tools have built-in air regulators.
WALL-MOUNT DROPS
The vacuum inlets should be located within 1ft. of the air outlets, so it
is easy for the technician to plug his vacuum hose and air line into the
vacuum inlet and air outlet.
If you are using Eurovac grounded vacuum hoses with air, they are automatically grounded when the air line in the vacuum hose is plugged into the air outlet, which is attached to the hard metal pipe.
